When you first start out paddling, it’s unlikely that you make the full investment into some dry-wear like a drytop or a drysuit. Similar to any other sport, you don’t usually go for the top of the line equipment first. However, drytops have some distinct advantages over other pieces of gear that are valuable to the more experienced boater, which makes them more than worth the investment.
The first thing that’s great about drytops is that they keep you dry! Drytops have latex around the wrists and neck which keeps 99% of the water off of your body. More than that, drytops are also great for keeping extra water out of your boat. Most drytops have a double tunnel system around the waist where the internal tunnel goes on the inside of your skirt and the outer layer goes on the outside of your skirt, creating a pretty waterproof system.
